York, SC (July 26, 2016) – Eat Smart, Move More York County (ESMMYC) hosted a Complete Streets Workshop in downtown York, with 21 attendees. The workshop, led by Toole Deign Group, gave an introductory overview of “Complete Streets” and the health, economic, and safety benefits that communities can realize through its implementation.
The photos are from the In-Field Case Study session. In this session, participants headed out onto the streets for discussion of how to apply the project development process to real-life examples.
The ESMMYC Active Community Environments sub-committee planned this event. It was funded by a grant awarded to ESMMYC by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC Foundation. Event sponsors included the Upper Palmetto YMCA, the American Planning Association South Carolina Chapter, Carolinas HealthCare System, the Town of Clover, and the City of York.
